Day 15: Stevi

Stevi checked me into Paradise Lake Family Campground in Spout Spring VA. Turns out when she was about 10, she, four siblings and her parents spent the summer going to all 48 states in a bus. I invited her to come see mine and she stayed for a tarot reading, conversation and hugs.

Getting here was a challenge. My iPhone maps (I know, the Google map app is better, but I don’t like the format; it’s too difficult to read at a glance.) got me very lost on some very back roads, telling me to turn where there was only a driveway comprised of two tire tracks. I thought not. Took a left at the end of the street when a right would have been a better choice … except that I got to see a house literally in the middle of nowhere that I could picture myself living in. After another five miles or so, I turned on the Garmin and found my way to the camp, but not before a bump took down the bookshelf over the back door. Thankfully, everything landed on the bed. Some glue on the screws as well as the wood will hopefully hold the contents for thousands of more miles.

This is definitely the Bible belt. So many churches, each with some message on its sign. The one that proclaimed “God makes the climate” triggered a rant. A narrow bridge and oncoming traffic drew my focus back to the road. (Part of my brain is still trying to figure out how I could have rearranged the letters to say something more pagan: The gods make lime cat?)

Still sniffling (and thinking it could be allergies), but the knee is almost back to normal. Thank you again to all who sent healing … and to Eve’s pain cream and Cousin Christine’s comfrey root salve.

I am long overdue posting Witch Hunt profiles, so I will give some time to that while watching to see if the clouds part so I can see (and not just feel) the moon while it’s still fairly full.
