Day 54: Seven hours of bliss
So … the day started off with me swooning over the view I had when I woke up. It was exactly why I went on the road. I wanted to be in nature. I wanted views like this. I stayed there for a long time gazing out the window. Pyewacket even joined me. My heart was bursting with joy. I went for a walk, washed clothes, filed a story and then ate a late lunch outside on my mini picnic table, enjoying more of the view and knowing when the water recedes a bit more, I can get down to the beach and the Adirondack chairs. It was blissful. I even made peace with my longing to be with family on Christmas.
Everything changed when I went inside and washed the dishes. The drain backed up into the shower, as it has before, only this time letting out a little gray water did nothing, and neither did pouring boiling water down both drains. Why I didn’t get the hair catcher gadget for the drain before yesterday, I’ll never know. At least I’m close to the bathhouse and as a Pisces, there’s nothing like a long hot shower to wash away negativity. It’s like hitting a reset button. But I gave up the shower on the left when all I could get was cold water and moved to the one on the right where in addition to cold, I could get way too hot, but nothing in-between no matter what I did with that knob. Thinking of my favorite bedtime story as a child, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” I knew the middle stall would be just right, except it was barred from use. So way too hot it was, which did not soothe my troubled soul.
Returning to my sacred space, I reached out to other skoolie owners and the majority of respondents on this Christmas Eve unlike any other Christmas Eve I’ve had, spoke of a Zipit gizmo to remove hair clogs - so I will be going to Dollar General up the road on Thursday. As a back-up, I ordered some from Evil Empire Amazon that will arrive Friday. Someone also taught me how to make one from a zip strip, which someone around this camp is bound to have on hand. I’m also going to need a super Bungie cord because the second latch on my Dometic refrigerator broke off in my hand and the lid needs more than it’s own weight to remain closed, especially when in motion. Believing I may as well jam all the unsavory tasks into the same day, I also turned to several discussions about what tow service to get: Good Sam, AAA, State Farm or a special one for big truck/bus/vehicles. Sure enough, I got a brain cramp because there seemed to be as many fans as there were horror stories for each. I let the pendulum pick. AAA it will be.
I’m going to bed early to read a spell book I’m reviewing for PaganPages. In addition to the love spells and the money spells and the spells to sell your house, I’m hoping there are spells for water problems. I’ve still got that leak above the windshield to deal with.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
