Day 106: Attitude Adjustment

Yesterday’s me wanted to scream, “How long does it take to get a fucking tachometer?”
Today’s me knows it’s obviously more than nine hours because everyone’s long gone.
Today’s me is calmer than yesterday’s me because I spent last night and much of today diving into inspirational videos and quotes, meditating, and consciously reframing my situation.

I replaced my flannel sheets for the watery tie dye organic cotton ones I’d gifted myself for the skoolie. Topping them is a vintage quilt because Pye lost his breakfast on the cover that matches the curtains; Rachael Ray’s grain free cat food from the supermarket did not agree with him. I did a bit more hand washing, leaving three pillow cases full of other dirty clothes and linens until I can get to a machine. I also did a minimal amount of cooking and cleaning.

Mostly I counted blessings, offered up many a thank you, and let myself be inspired by everyone from Oprah to John Quincy Adams. Below are some that guided me to the realization I’d become obsessed with getting out of here, obsessed with a long list of things to get done in a shrinking amount of time while traveling back to New England. It was proof I have yet to authentically surrender control of my journey, and that until I do, I will continue to manifest opportunities such as this one. I know what I most resist, I most need to do. That means I need to let go; let go completely; let go and let goddess, mother, source, spirit, universe unfold that which is for the highest good and greatest joy of all in the perfect time, space sequence. And that, dear reader, was the result of my mini retreat and will be the focus of this weekend’s work.
So here’s how the wisdom was flowing. May something here inspire you.

“It’s time to surrender all.” -Oprah

“Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.” -John Quincy Adams

“Patience is not simply the ability to wait – it’s how we behave while we’re waiting.” -Joyce Meyer

“Surrender to what is. Let go of what was. Have faith in what will be.” -Sonia Ricotti

When we release our attachment to perceived complications, complications let go of their attachment to us.

“The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem. Do you understand?” -Captain Jack Sparrow

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to learn to love the questions themselves.” -Ranier Maria Rilke

This isn’t how it’s always going to be.

Tell a different story.

“Don’t seek, don’t search, don’t ask, don’t knock, don’t demand – relax. If you relax, it comes. If you relax, it is there. If you relax, you start vibrating with it.”  -Osho

Song from the Mother: Let go of the need to know why … remember the Earth Mantra deep in your bones – that you are beautiful, that you belong, that you are wild and powerful, wise woman, breathing together, conspiring, sitting in circles, knowing that all things unfold in the most perfect way.

Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself.

What screws us up most in life is the picture in our head of how it is supposed to be.

“Forgive yourself for not being at peace. The moment you completely accept your non-peace, your non-peace is transmuted into peace. Anything you accept fully will get you there, will take you into peace. This is the miracle of surrender.’ -Eckhart Tolle

When life feels as thought it is falling apart, it may actually be falling together. Trust the process.

“We are sometimes taken into troubled waters, not to be drowned, but to be cleansed.” -Fyre Star

“I have come to accept the feeling of not knowing where I am going. And I have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and alas begin our flight.” -JoyBell

You’re never in the wrong place. Sometimes you’re in the right place looking at things the wrong way.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” -Roald Dahl
