Day 216: Over the mountain & through the woods

Wednesday I drove to Lincoln, VT to see my cousin and her husband. They have the most spectacular view of the Presidential Range. I got here late, thanks to getting lost twice, adding more than an hour to my trip. The first time was close to home. I got onto Route 4 headed east instead of west. Everything looked familiar because I’ve traveled that road a lot. It took about half an hour to realize I was never getting to Vermont heading east from New Hampshire. The second time was when I was supposed to turn onto a road that I hadn’t copied from Google Maps. There are four drivers who would be glad to tell you how I made a K-turn on a two-lane road. After dinner on the deck, the temperature began to drop. Back on the bus I noticed it was awfully hot. It seemed that moving things around to hook up my portable a/c had repositioned my polar bear staff with such precision that its nose touched the on button for the diesel heater that was running just fine on the inch worth of gas still in the container. Turning that off, it wasn’t too long before I changed into sweatpants and a long-sleeve T-shirt, and added another layer of covers to the bed, preparing to crawl into it four hours earlier than normal. With no Internet, no TV and no cell service, and eyes too tired to read, there’s not much to distract me. I will post this as soon as possible.
