DAY 534: An Extra Day's Stay

It was too nice to leave, and I was granted another day and night on the water. It’s cold and windy, but the sun is warming up the bus that the wind occasionally rocks. With simple meals (packaged precooked chicken and dressing added to salad; leftover steak tips in mushroom gravy with leftover stir-fried green vegetables; cheese, bacon, tomato, and mayo wraps; keto oatmeal) I have kept chores to a minimum. The rest of my time has largely been spent enjoying this spot on the water, letting my mind wander, writing my columns for Pagan Pages, and catching up on communications. Last night I enjoyed the sunset, a fire in which I burned "leftovers" from spells, offerings, and the altar, and a martini. I stayed until there were just glowing embers and the moon was high.

I find myself going to bed much earlier – because the dark comes so soon and because it’s warmer under the covers.

I’m about to have three long drives and one shorter one that will get me to the skoolie homestead in Jesup Friday … my daughter’s birthday and the full moon. As the crow flies, I'm 500 miles away ... so of course I can't get four lines of that Peter, Paul and Mary song out of my head. Here, you take 'em!

"Lord I'm one, Lord I'm two, Lord I'm three, Lord I'm four,
Lord I'm 500 miles from my home.
500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles
Lord I'm five hundred miles from my home."
