DAY 525: The Wheel Turns To a New Year

I welcomed the new pagan year turning into the field in Hurley, NY just as the sun had set, followed a while later by the new moon setting. Two wrong turns while I was trying to work out the wording for a hex, and a hunt for transmission fluid ate up more than an hour, making it a five-and-a-half hour trip – about an hour and a half more than I prefer to drive. I’m also out of shape after being comfortably and stationary parked at Kim’s.

Pye will not ride in the closet after a case holding a sewing machine moved three inches on our way down from New Hampshire. I fed him treats in a box braced in the closet with my shoe bin and the sewing machine so nothing would move, but he still would have nothing to do with it. I managed to get him off the bottom step where he was getting road fumes to the space under my seat. Thankfully he had no interest in the pedals.

Right now the diesel heater is putting out 68 degree warmth an my feet and legs are happy. In a few minutes I’ll turn it down and a go to bed. The computer is almost dead and I don’t want to turn on power that will drain the solar batteries, so it’s early to bed, reading until the solar light gives out.

I am including a map of my “planned” route (on the FB page), so if you happen to be along the way, please get in touch so we might plan to meet up.

Tomorrow it’s on to New Jersey, then north of Philly … and deciding if the weather is warm enough to kick around until 11/15 to meet someone in Maryland. from New Hampshire.
