DAY 565: I Can See Florida From Here

I stayed up way too late last night, so it was a blessing my drive was less than 100 miles and fairly stress free. I stopped at Publix, getting easy and prepared foods. (Stuffing small peppers with tuna and ham salad was a great for bringing on my picnic.) That way I won’t deplete my solar batteries that are only at 80% and I don’t have to unpack the sink to do dishes, and then pack it again. I’m not sure when the last time was I got water. It might have been Connecticut. I have made 30 gallons last three weeks, not counting drinking and cooking water. I also am not sure how much gray water I’m carrying around. At least it’s draining again, and not backing up into my shower like it did last month while on the road.

Saying goodbye to friends is always difficult. But I know I’ll meet up with them again, at the Skoolie Swarm in Florida in February if not on the road.

I am spending the night in a parking space facing the St. Marys River; on the other side is Florida. I spent time in a beautiful park, looking out at the water, people watching, enjoying a swing seat, feeling the cool breeze, having a picnic, walking out on the piers, laughing as a loon struggled with a water snake.

Tomorrow I cross into Florida and hope to find a beach with sand.
