DAY 377: Greetings from the Sunshine State
Things I learned today:
• The wrong end of a match won’t light no matter how many times you strike it.
• 200 miles is longer than I ever want to drive in a day.
• Karma weighs 17,440 pounds with Pye and I on board, and three quarters of a tank of gas.
• In Florida, only police officers can verify a VIN number on a weight slip, so the stop at the weigh station is useless because New Hampshire will not accept it as proof for my attempt to lower my registration fees.
• A “Hot Cars” sign at a used car lot probably does not refer to stolen vehicles.
• “Dead People’s Stuff For Sale” is an interesting name for an antique shop.
• If you have intermittent windshield wipers, consider yourself blessed, and double that if you can operate it without having your left hand try to find the right switch without taking your eyes off the road.
• I might want to see an eye doctor because I can see better with my long-distance eyeglasses off.
• Except for using the external monitor or charging my laptop, I can live fairly comfortably with what’s plugged in to three “cigarette lighters”: the fan for my diesel heater, my fridge that has a splitter to also run my cPap machine, and a double USB outlet.
• Nothing washes off a long day better than a shower, even if it is in only two square feet of space, the sprayer is handheld, and the water does not run continuously.
Things I didn’t learn today:
• Why none of the photos and videos I took today are not on my camera or, it seems, anywhere else. These photos are from yesterday primarily taken in Waverly, GA. (As always, there are more contained in the Facebook post.)
