DAY 427 (3/31): Blessings In Many Forms

Last night I didn’t sleep well, so I got up late today, pushing back my departure time. By doing that, it gave my host time to notice a drip under the bus. After getting the manifold line drip fixed, I thought I was done dripping. He Just crawled under the bus and started looking for the source, wiping as he went. He cheerfully puzzled his way through what did what. There were a few “what the hells,” “holy crap,” “I never, ever expected this. Unbelievable.” “this is the weirdest” and other noises. It seems the leak is probably due to having overfilled the transmission fluid reservoir, and there’s some kind of radiator cooling the oil. There were also six screws that came out and only five holes to put them back in.

During the conversation, the song “Carolina in My Mind” came drifting out of his garage. I have always loved his music. It turns out James Taylor grew up here and there’s a bridge dedicated to him five miles up the road. Life continues to amaze me.

With thunderstorms and rain the rest of the day, I may very well need the electricity at the campsite, making my bristling a bit premature. Now it will mean driving in the dark before I reach the park, but this help was invaluable.

My cousin Debbie Lynn just reminded me that we got reacquainted a year ago today. The love, the memories, the time spect together, the memories, and the closet full off tie dyed clothing that no longer fit her are among the many blessings.

There’s some banging. We’re about to try to drain out some transmission fluid. I will update you in the next post.
