Day 405: Divine Intervention
When I was due to leave camp yesterday, I was going to go to visit the mechanics now in Lake City, FL who put in my transmission last year, spend a night in the nearby national forest, continue on to Jekyll Island fo boondock by the beach, then roll into the skoolie camp in Jesup Wednesday. When it was clear I was leaving Tuesday, I wanted to skip the mechanics, but I followed the pull to go to the truck repair shop to see if perhaps I could go a bit faster. A test drive gave the answer. “No.” As he backed Karma onto the new cement slab in front of the soon-to-be-officially-open shop, he noticed a line of drips. Turns out I have a fuel leak. So, I’m sitting here waiting for the engine to cool down so they can figure out what needs to be ordered … and again thanking Archangel Raphael, patron saint of travelers, for watching over me. Needless to say, I will be spending the night here with a few white tractor trailers to keep me company.
Speaking of white, I left the Jappa Hideout without remembering to get my can of paint to finish touching up the interior.
Ah … all part of living the dream!
PS Been working with Verizon and Apple to get my phone to work as a hotspot so I can post this. We’re into hour number two. Everyone went home without assessing my problem, ordering parts, etc. What are the odds I will get out of here in time to make a five-hour drive in daylight?
