DAY 432: HIGHWAY TO HIGH LOOKOUT

Last night cost me $25 at that TA stop. That’s the second one that charged. Had I the strength to drive another 15 minutes, I could have gotten to a Love’s, but didn’t know it at the time. I did spend another $21 to have a diesel mechanic check my fluids, zip tie down my coolant cap that’s old and stretched out, and put air in my tires.

Food has been eggs on English muffins, crackers and Campbell’s chicken and rice soup. I miss Whole Foods because they’re the only other company I know that makes it. Actually, I miss my mom’s. Tomorrow I have about 100 miles to reach my sister, a shower in a bathroom with a door, a martini in a proper glass, and one of her delicious meals.

The route Apple Maps chose was rather ugly and very bumpy. For not being a highway, it had five lanes in one direction at times. I got down to some docks in New Jersey on roads with patched patches that had holes. More than half my clothes jumped off the rod and fell on top of Pye. Drawers opened that were plugged shut. Objects jumped off shelves and furniture slid toward the front of the bus. I need to find out if investing in a new set of shock absorbers would help smooth out the ride.

I’ve been noticing ,more help wanted signs and more masks as I continue heading north.

Tonight I’m on the top of s high point in Harriman State Park looking down at a divided highway. The sunset was beautiful. All but one of the cars left, so I am alone up here. My first “in the wild” boon docking experience. Just a little nervous, but all locked up and ready to go to bed early and read. I’ll catch up on a five days worth of emails tomorrow.
