DAY 464: My Superpower

I can justify anything for anybody. It’s one of my superpowers – offering permission to do anything your heart desires. If you’ve got a dream, I am ready to help you get there.

For better or worse, I am able to use it on myself.

Few witches seem to be wearing hats these days. When I jettisoned my previous life, I parted with the three witch hats I had made when celebrating various sabbats years and years ago. I was gifted a short pointy felt hat to take on the bus that I have used both in ritual and to stay warm. So when I fell in love with another witch hat, a very tall one, I talked myself out of buying it for all the left-brain, logical reasons I could muster. I did mention it was very tall with a very long bendable tip. And it was purple. Well, more like a reddish shade of purple. It really wanted to go home with me, but I placed it carefully back on the shelf.

But days later I could not stop thinking about this hat, so I began to justify it. A hat like that is kooky enough for a witch like me, and a witch like me is kooky enough for a hat like that. Did I mention it was purple? And it had bendable points on each side of the brim. It was a quality item you don’t often see. Beltane was coming. I would regret not getting it. I hadn’t bought anything since that pair of earthing shoes I ordered yesterday. No one would have a hat like that, but they would wish they did. 99% of the time, what I most regret is not something I did, but something I didn’t do.

I called and committed to buying it.

Do you like it? (The hat or the justification … ‘witch’ever.)

I have also enjoyed spending time with a sister, cousins, and former co-workers. I have turkey legs to craft into wands and hand-me-down tops that match beloved previously handed-to-me clothing. I’ve gotten more massage.

And, I’ve got an extended stay. It seems the goddess’ plan is that I would remain in Connecticut until the beginning of June.
