August 17: A Scenic Drive

This posted today because WiFi was down that night, and what I thought posted didn’t.

Tuesday involved errands and driving backroads in the hopes of finding access to the river that runs between a state highway and old town roads. I saw covered bridges, boulders near the Rumney Rocks area part of the White Mountain National Forest, large farms with fruit and vegetable stands open daily, vast numbers of Jerusalem artichokes blooming six weeks earlier than when I first brought them to an annual witch’s weekend Mabon retreat more than a dozen years ago. I found the nearest municipal airport, a long dirt road, but no access to the river, only amazing views I had not seen before. The last view of the day was to walk on Karma for the first time in six weeks. I need to see if she’ll start because after being blown off by three mechanics around the state who agreed to replace the king pins on the bus, Monica found a business moving into a new building not far from here. I called and as soon as I can get her there, he’ll assess the bus for himself, for $105, and decide if it’s king pins I need. Then I’ll get an estimate for what needs doing and if I accept, the work will get done.
