DAY 899: Another Day In Paradise

Today was lunch with Capt. Bob at Square Grouper Tiki Bar in Fort Pierce, an open air establishment with tables inside and out. The conch fritters had some hard-to-chew pieces and I don’t know why there were maraschino cherries in the Frozen Joe (whipped cream vodka, Kahlua, cappuccino, cream). I watched boats pass by Fort Pierce Inlet to the Indian River Lagoon, an invasive lizard, and birds diving for fish.

I spent the rest of the afternoon at Avalon Beach where there was just about no one. Considering I vowed not to pick up shells, I bought a bunch back to the bus, then sorted and returned the two welks and about a dozen smaller ones to the sand. I ran my phone battery down playing “My Avalon” over and over and over, singing to the calm ocean.

Now I am about to start sifting through memories for tomorrow’s post commemorating my 900th day on the bus.
