DAY 1090: Home Sweet Skoolie

After my fourth awful breakfast, learning how to care for my wound, visits from many doctors, and going over discharge information, I was ready to leave. It seemed like the wheelchair would never come to take me to the pick-up area. Charlie, my ex, was kind enough to come get me.

We went to The Pub for lunch, then CVS, before he dropped me off at the bus. Pyewacket, who rarely nods in my direction unless I am dispensing treats, actually ran to me. The tequila and Fresca I had with my wrap made for a wonderful two-hour nap on the hot bus. There were lots of people to update, Megan made shrimp tacos for dinner, and now I am back in my hammock chair, candles burning, listening to the sounds of the night. No bright overhead lighting. No monitors beeping. No one sticking IVs in my arm. But also, no one bringing me graham crackers and peanut butter at 4am.

Four days of emails, and the long list of what needs doing will wait for tomorrow. Or the next day. Or the day after that. Right now I am thankful for the medical care, a box of first aid supples, my own bed, and all the love and healing from friends and family. More activities are getting dropped from my Really Want To Do While In Connecticut list. The focus will be on healing so I can begin my drive south October 11. While In Connecticut list.
