DAY 1163: Feast of Santa Lucia

Greetings.

Today, December 13, Saint Lucy is celebrated different ways in different countries. Her feast day commemorates the day she died. Santa Lucia is the patron saint of Siracusa, the Sicilian town in which my grandmother was born. In honor of my ancestors, I made the traditional dessert, Cuccia Santa Lucia. Well, my version using what I could get. It was on Samhain that I brushed up on three patron saints as a way to connect with ancestors known and unknown. Their dates are marked on my calendar. Learning more about my German roots will come next.
