DAY 1178: The Women I Once Was

I'd been doing shadow work since Samhain and recently stumbled upon myself 25 years ago. I sat with her for a while, getting to know her and the relationship we have with one another. There were more steps in the coven's course, but before I got back to it, I came across this poem by Emory Hall from her book, "Made of Rivers." Since then I've been traveling Memory Lane, visiting the many mes I've been. (More photos on FB)

   make peace
with all the women
you once were.

lay flowers
at their feet.

offer them incense
and honey
and forgiveness.

   honor them
  and give them
your silence.

   listen.

bless them
and let them be.

   for they are the bones
of the temple
you sit in now.

for they are
the rivers
of wisdom
leading you toward
the sea.
