DAY 1001: Picking My Poison

ACT I

I showered at Planet Fitness, got Pye food at Petco, and am plotting a route to East Haven, CT, then on to Quaker Hill to house/dog sit. I have to decide which is worse: 3.6 miles of bridge or a 3.1-mile white-knuckle downhill drive. I don’t like either option. I’ve done the mountain twice before, once up and once down, and swore I would never do it again. But I also hate bridges, and although I am better at them than when I started out, three miles may as well be thirty. A third option is to add miles and miles to my route and cross on Route 84 via the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
I am trying to focus, but here in a New Jersey parking lot, all my brain is aware of is the scent of Chick-fil-A waffle fries and fried chicken waffling in my window, promising me carbs for comfort. I will not give in, though, because I disapprove of their politics. What I will do is knock on the door of the white skoolie parked a few spaces away.

ACT II

Joan answered. Sure enough, five minutes in and we were taking toilets. You will, too, when you have a skoolie. She was moving to another Walmart lot, so I followed her. While visiting in her rig, I learned she’s a newbie to the Craft. I got all excited. We are everywhere! I gave her one of the protection charms I made. And speaking of crafts, among her talents is making jewelry. We just completed a swap: clothes for jewelry repair. She will be leaving eleven hours from now, so I need to get off the computer and into my nighttime routine. Oh … and she told me that it’s possible to request someone from the highway authority (I think it was) to drive my bus across the bridge. I seem to remember someone else telling me that before I launched. I will let you know what I learn.
