DAY 988: Not A Happy Camper
It’s happened again, and all too soon. Two days of constant rain, a high of 46, 36 for the morning low. The Dometic is again refusing to cool. The diesel heater was not working until late last night when it mysteriously stopped flashing an error code. The only hot food in three days has been delivered by Uber Eats and both times the order was wrong.
I had been on top of the world and forgot that the only direction to go was down. It started on the full moon and has been a shit show ever since … to the point I am fantasizing about a hiatus from skoolie life while huddled under a mound of bedding, wearing layers of clothing I have had on for three nights and two days. I am closer than ever to cancelling the last eight and a half weeks of my trip. I have given myself permission to do just that rather than be cold and miserable, overwhelmed with a two-page list of things demanding attention and coping. In the past, allowing myself to quit was enough to calm me down. This time feels different.
After more assistance from Angels Nat and Don tomorrow, I resume heading north. The sun should be shining so my battery will recharge. I will see if that’s enough for when a week of rain and cold comes mt way.
