DAY 1025: Flower Girl

When I was a small child around 1959, I remember telling people I was the flower girl at my parents' wedding, much to their horror. (I was the flower girl at my. godfather’s wedding.) I used to sing along to the bubble gum song by The Cowsills, "(I Love) The Flower Girl," and later could recite the poem by e.e.cummings that began

who knows if the moon's
a balloon, coming out of a keen city...

and ended with

always
it's
Spring)and everyone's
in love and flowers pick themselves

One of my greatest joys has been giving co-workers, tellers, neighbors, family, and friends flowers from my garden.

While I love them all, daisies hold a special place in my heart. Today I was able to pull over on the side of a road a pick myself a bouquet. Also today, my favorite aunt, Gloria, gifted me some wisteria and lilacs, both beautifully purple and sweet smelling. Along with the plant my daughter, Natasha, gave me for Mother's Day, my altar is adorned with color. It makes me happy. Very happy, grateful, and joyful to be so blessed.
