December 17: Raining Inside
It's been pouring, an unwavering deluge, for more than three hours. And every 15, then every 10, and now, every 5 minutes, water dripping from the bottom of the air conditioner fills up the only container I have that fits up against the window. I pour it into a bowl and empty the bowl out the door. I tried standing on my little step stool in the driveway to cover the unit in plastic wrap, but only got completely soaked as the plastic ripped and stuck to itself as I watched the container on the other side of the glass fill up. The container that is very close to an electrical outlet.
So much for going out to eat my last night here. I can't even sleep or leave here in the morning unless it stops raining and I manage to seal the air conditioner on the outside with the limited resources I have available.
What a difference a day and an inch of rain makes. Not quite so grateful, happy, blessed, and amazed.
