September 7: Tag Sale Treasures
I can count on one hand the number of times in the past 30 years I have had enough tag sales for one day. Today was one of those days. Saturday both Middletown and Cromwell had town wide tag sales totaling more than 200 locations. For six hours, PJ drove us over the river, through the woods, up the hills, and around the bends to 60 sales. She filled her truck bed with many large items for her large yard and house, while my collection of treasures took up a portion of the back seat. I was restrained so that I would not again let The Witch on Wheels morph into The Pagan Peddler. (The candles filled a box that will go to my daughter.)
We sat in a parking lot at our last stop wondering what to do next when the smell of tomato sauce had us both craving pizza. It turned out Illiano's Ristorante and Pizzeria was just 500 feet away. A sign as we walked that assured us we were old and wanted pizza. And blessed be, it had gluten free crusts, which turned out to be the largest and the best either of us have ever had.
While there, we planned our next three outings: the Simsbury Library's used book sale next weekend, a trip to the beach and gem store for the full moon, and, after that, Glastonbury's huge tag sale at one location.
