February 15: What To Do About Cold?

I spent two days plotting a meandering route from Florida down the Texas coast to at least Magnolia Beach. (This is before bridges scare me off.) Now I see that there is a cold front coming that drops temperatures as low as 19 degrees. There is no escaping it if I continue on. Three nights of below freezing and days in the low 40s, which means it never really warms up. It will take all my effort to stay warm but chill, with nothing left for coping or social graces.

The alternative is to return to the Trenton, FL where only one night gets down to 31 and days are 20 degrees warmer than Mississippi and Texas. To then come back and try to pick up the journey where I left off would cost about $300 and 10+ days. I found myself resisting this option, all the while knowing 98% of the time what I most resist I most need to do.

Actually there are an unlimited number of other options. I could return to my traditional East Coast travel which would include keeps me in Florida until March ... I could travel to states that had not yet made the list ...

In addition to this, my phone plan's benefits ended before my plan month did, and I could not access my computer where itineraries were noted. Everything was going to have to wait for morning (see next paragraph) so I could drive to Planet Fitness and use their WiFi to straighten it out. (That took stops at two gas stations to ask for directions, just like we used to do in the olden days.)

I was wrestling with whether or not to switch from Mint to Consumer Cellular because of the amount of hot spot gigabytes I burn through on the road with no WiFi.

I went to the hammock with those two decisions running around in my head. The full moon and parking lot noise added up to probably three hours of sleep at best.. After sleeping on it I chose a way to go. Florida or Texas, which do you feel would be the. It's written in black Sharpie on the white lined paper. Then I pulled these two cards: to see if my choice was the better of the two, and to learn what I can do to best cope with the likely challenges this decision brings.
