March 17: Day 1,500
Today is the 1,500th day I have lived in a skoolie. The months I spent on the farm in New Hampshire, the days I was in the hospital, when I moved into Kim's house because of the heat, the three nights I spent in hotels, etc. – those were not counted.
Weeks ago when I calculated the milestone, I thought I would start celebrating today and keep it going until the spring equinox on the 20th which marks one year since Karmalita became my home. But, now that the day is upon me, I am not inspired to do much of anything. I packed up and drove half a mile to take a cold shower and dump the trash, picking out a new spot on the beach to park. Now all I want to do is sit on the beach and read, sit on the beach and watch the seagulls, and hang out my back door and listen to the small waves meet the sand. I am also remembering my mom who was buried 26 years ago today.
Now that the weekend is over, fewer people are parked along the water. On this entire strip, I am the only skoolie. There had been one other, but he left yesterday ... after trying to fix the still-leaking air conditioner and reattaching a mirror.
I arrived on the full Blood Moon eclipse. I sat under her from about midnight to 2:30am. Even though it clouded over shortly after becoming fully covered, I was soaking up the energy that I found unexpectedly empowering. I am enjoying a still very large moon each night. When I get to other beaches, it will be under the dark moon, so no more moon shadows.
I will make a trip into town in the next day or so for food and whatever I might need to celebrate Ostara ... like fresh flowers. Doing laundry and getting a pedicure in the same mall could easily be added. Meanwhile I am trying to make progress on book reviews for PaganPages.
Hoping you are all seeing signs of spring.
PS: And no, I don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day because the “snakes” he is credited with driving out of Ireland were witches.
