Meet: Angela Denise Foltz-Ferguson
Angie and I bonded over witchcraft and skoolies, meeting a couple of times while I was in Connecticut. She and her wife, Tammy, dream of taking their magick and their music on the road in a skoolie … or van, or box truck, or RV. Born in 1966, both are Firehorses. Angela is a Virgo and Tammy is an Aries. They are novice yet very enthusiastic ukulele players known as Gaia’s Green Girls, www.GaiasGreenGirls.com playing classic country to classic rock, and even gospel. Find them here on YouTube. www.YouTube.com/WynterRavyn77. One of Angela’s goals is to have a stronger presence in the pagan community, saying, “We both have several different types of crafts we do, but they always swap-out — I don’t seem to do the same thing all of the time.” Get to know her better from her answers below.
1. Do you have a magical name you’re willing to share?
Wynter Ravyn (In addition to Angie, she likes to be called Wynter Ravyn.)
2. In what state do you reside?
Connecticut
3. How do you make your living?
SSDI
4. Are you out of the broom closet? / Have you felt threatened?
Out, yes; Threatened, no.
5. When did you first know you were a witch? How long have you been
practicing?
December 2002-ish, and practicing by January 2003
6. How do you define your practice? Do you follow a specific tradition?
I am a Cabot Tradition Witch. I lean Norse/Druid but more Norse than Druid, although I am neither Norse nor Druid.
7. What one object must be on your altar for it to be an altar?
ONE thing?! I don’t “need” an altar nor anything on it, for magick is within; however, anything that’s “needed” for focus is also around … if not my finger to point as a wand or a stick, rock, shell, pinecone … water, dirt, sand, air, candle, incense … That being said, I love my Goddess and God statues, candles, pentacles, pendulums …
8. Do you have a daily practice?
I no longer have a specific daily practice … I am magick, it is within, any moment or every moment is magickal … I live my magick.
9. How do you respond when someone asks, “Are you a good witch or a bad witch?”
I reply, “Are you a good Christian or a bad Christian?” I don’t crack a smile. I never imply that my path is a joke.
10. Do you have a familiar?
Cat is my familiar. Raven is my totem. Owl is my spirit guide. My spirit insects are Tarantula/Spider, Praying Mantis, Dragonfly.
11. What gifts, skills or powers do you share with others?
I’m a Healer, not because I am a career nurse, but because it is my gift from Deity.
12. What was your most magical experience?
My most magickal experience is the day I saw a faery … a giant “tall as the trees” but seemingly gentle. I wasn’t afraid. A second magickal experience is the day that as a brand-new witchling, I misused my magick and learned an immediate, harsh lesson. I’ve never done that again! Thirdly, experiences of the gift of clairaudience were pretty handy.
