Day 18: Landed
Today I made it to Darlington SC to catch up with a dear, dear friend, former intern and co-worker, Samantha Sullivan, who is also like a daughter and a sister to me. It’s been seven years since we’ve seen one another. It seems I inspired her to trade in apartment renting for owning a trailer. I am camped right next to her. We went out to dinner and laughed and cried and hugged. I’m really here. In my skoolie. With my cat. Life is good. (Damn, I almost wrote it as LIFE is good because of all those years working for LIFE Publications.)
The last leg was long but made easier because of long stretches on each road. Only one wrong turn today, and few pull overs because there were so few paved places I could pull over. I’m sure all those behind me weren’t happy about puttering along at 35-45mph, but I chose to look at it as being the coolest looking vehicle on the road leading a parade of cars and trucks and delivery vans.
Tomorrow I look forward to going nowhere and doing as little as possible.
