Day 49: Reiki and Tarot (and cold and dark)
Today I interviewed Laura Loup, artist and owner of Cosmic Corner in Savannah, Goergis, about the retro futurism (think “The Jetsons” meets She-Ra) tarot deck she created. (Read about it in an upcoming issue of PaganPages.)
Laura organized the afternoon for me to give 20-minute reiki sessions in a space behind her retail area. Nearly all those who came had not experienced it before. (I hope the woman who took pictures of me working on her friend friend will post them because I forgot to take a selfie.)
Afterwards I shopped at a Whole Foods – something I haven’t done since leaving West Hartford, Connecticut in May where we had not one, but two of them. It was a joy.
Coming back in the dark I couldn’t find the driveway until a neighbor led me to it. Happy to be settled in, I was merrily boiling water to cook some green beans to eat with the treat of cooked shrimp when a fuse blew in the garage I am plugged into, plunging me into darkness. My host was already asleep, so I am rationing battery power for only the refrigerator and my cPap machine. I turned on the solar powered lamps and ate a cold dinner of shrimp, wine and doughnuts, skipping the celery and peppers I could have cut into strips.
It’s early to bed of many layers wearing my hooded fleece poncho and shoving some hand warmers down around my feet. Someday I will find the 70-degree weather I plan to chase, but tonight it is 36. I have no guilt about not being productive. Or eating doughnuts.
