DAY 883: All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Bus Keys

Christmas Eve day began with a colorful sunrise. But I’m writing not about that, but to reiterate something you’ve heard before: Be careful what you wish for.

I find myself sipping a Bloody Mary this morning because I won’t be driving anywhere anytime soon. My keys have gone missing. Two boring looking keys on a green key chain. The ignition and the deadbolt. I came back on the bus after a walk on the beach and took my keys out of my dress pocket to unlock the door. I then put them down somewhere. Half the time it’s on my altar, the other half the time it’s hanging by the windshield. Those were the first two places I looked at 3:30pm yesterday as I was packing up a few things, knowing it was soon going to be time to leave. They weren’t there. They weren’t anywhere. Not in the litter box, garbage bags, drawers, sink, bed, closet, or cloth bag holding my Amazon returns. I looked behind, beside and under everything. I opened closed boxes and searched the fridge. They could not have fallen down the toilet. Two psychics and a friend all saw them in the cab area … and rightfully so, that’s where their energy is the strongest … but not where they are now. There are only 140 square feet of floor space on this skoolie. I was frantic … until I surrendered. Two hands on my heart and long deep breaths and I came back to calm. And then I began to laugh because it occurred to me that I am getting exactly what I wanted: to boondock at the beach all day and all night. The goddess heard me and, blessed be, granted me my wish. Rock star parking at the beach 24 hours a day.

I have called locksmiths and the truck maintenance division of the TA Center in town. No one can help. Seems no one makes bus keys. I was told I could hot wire Karma, but then I wouldn’t be able to shut her off. It’s crazy. And it’s Christmas weekend. Most places are closed until Monday (which is when I am supposed to bring in my computer). I do have a skoolie friend who will drive three hours to get to me and do it Tuesday if we can find an ignition to replace this one with, and I’ll still need a new key for the deadbolt, or a new deadbolt to lock when I’m off the bus. One of the park personnel offered to call some places to see if he could find me help today so I’ll get the heck out of here. I was also assured they are checking on my safety often.

I didn’t see any UFOs last night, but there was a fantastic light show off to the east. It must have been lightening off in the distance. I was mesmerized. I was also extremely grateful that the person who lives a mile from here and got my pizza, eggplant, and salad left on his doorstep went out of his way to deliver it to me. I am so blessed.

It was cold and will be getting colder. I am trying to ration my supply of diesel for the heater (my gas tank is mounted too high to drop in the line) to last another day.

And yes, I know, I owe you a post about Cassadaga.

Merry Christmas.
