DAY 622: Thrifting, Crafting, and Friday Night
I loose all track of days, but at the end of each I am in awe of another spectacular sunset. I soak in all the colors, not bothering to take a photo because the few I’ve snapped don’t do them justice. As soon as the sun sets, I start hearing activity in the adjacent parking lot. Tonight being Friday, I expect it to last until Sha Gi, one of my new van friends, returns from work at midnight. The more the two of us get to know one another, the more we find we have in common, including living simply, thrifting, crafts, tarot, philosophies, and the need to be near water.
Tampa was her home before she began traveling, and she took me to some of her favorite shops yesterday. I met Meghan at her metaphysical shop Royal Suzie, the manager at Goodwill when I discovered the paperweight missing from Sha Gi’s cart among someone’s items at the checkout, and seagulls who wanted our lunch by the river. We came home with bags of great stuff to craft with and sell at the upcoming skoolie swarm. So far I’ve turned a small jewelry box into a traveling altar and filled a vintage photo album with beautiful cards from a partial oracle deck. I plan to swap out the picture on the front of a handmade paper journal, make a money-attracting sugar jar in a small lidded glass bowl, and decorate two little flasks. Another trip out tomorrow will hopefully yield more finds. The creativity is gushing.
What’s not gushing is the water that needs to drain from my gray water. I am getting low on food and the laundry pile is growing high. But all that is for another day.
Tonight is for watching the lights at the port to my rear and the runway all lit up to my right. I also want to do a final check on a sign project I’m having done for Karma I am eager to share with you, and finish planning and preparing for a ritual before the full moon.
