DAY 1102: The Week Gone By

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted because time has been moving slowly.

Wound care is continuing with some improvement; it's just every time a bandage comes off, so does more of my skin. There is very little pain as long as I don't bump that part of my leg, which happens most often in bed.

Right now it's 50 degrees and raining. I passed on a shower, gave in and turned on the electric heater.

Today is my mom's birthday. I couldn't resist buying a supply of paper plates, napkins, and hats from the rummage tables at the annual Fall Into the Holidays Fair at St. Pius X Church in Middletown ... for 50 cents. It's the church I grew up in, and in which my mother was very active. I couldn't leave two small glass spell jars behind, nor the "Soul Sister" compact perfect for mirror work. I also bought some homemade baked goods, and ten raffle tickets.

After that I helped stack wood at my cousin Sue's before it rained, in return for coffee, lunch, two kinds of cookies, and fudge.

Last night my daughter came to visit. We went out to eat at Trackside Deli in Rockfall with two aunts, then had dessert at Karen's, with lots of love from the dogs, and fun playing with sparklers under the starry sky. I even downloaded the Snapchat app to get the pictures.

Other pictures are on Facebook … of visits with my sister, Barbara, and cousin, Bonnie; a bit of the six acres; a trip to the laundromat with more desert.

I have officially given up on attending the skoolie swarm, which starts tomorrow. As much as I long for my skoolie family gathering in Virginia, I know I am meant to be with my blood family right now.
