October 11: Continuing South
I did another highway drive today, this time on 95. It was the only way to make up time because it was past noon when I left Florence. I am spending the night on a huge horse farm just north of Savannah. I'm next to a pond and close to another skoolie.
One more night on the road and I'll get to "my home" in Cassadaga. Right now it has no power, and in front of the house a cracked tree is leaning on another tree waiting for someone to come remove it.
I keep patting Karmalita on the dashboard and thanking her for navigating potholes, crazy drivers, disappearing lanes, construction, quick stops, and traffic jams. I am also thanking the dragon that protects us, placing my hand on the wood above the windshield and speaking to her and asking for clues to the name she wants to be called. Then there's the dragon on my closet door, and an eye above the back door. I always fantasized a pet dragon that would fly with me. Now I have three.
