August 5: Family, Food, & Falling Temps
Today I finished packing the bus, carried Pye out of our room, and left Kim's for a 90-minute highway drive to my sister's. Thanks to a break in the oppressive heat and humidity – even if it means a week of rain – I am getting to spend my 113rd day and night on Karmalita. The last time I slept on her was July 11. I may not be staying up until 2am as I typically do because I am anxious to stretch out in the hammock.
My sister served me a tomato sandwich when I arrived, gave me flowers from her garden, and then made another of her tremendous dinners. We talked into the night, moving inside when the mosquitos began to feast on us.
Back on the bus, I began setting my altar for Lughnasadh and praising Pye for not pushing the door open before I locked up.
