February 23: Beach Time
Today I mostly recovered from yesterday, so thankful I did not have to drive again today. It was cold and a bit misty, but I did spend time at the beach. Not another soul in sight. The waves did their magic and I found a few treasures.
The 5,663 square feet of grass with electricity and septic I am parked on is being sold for $99,000. Just down the street is a double lot, .254 acres, for $168,000. And then there's this pink house for $380,000. (See more photos on Facebook.) Not as outrageous as I expected, but then, there are the mansions close by that are in the millions.
The damp cold seems to have settled in my bones ... even though tonight's 49 degrees is twice as warm as the nights that got down to 23. Guess it's time to whip up my second meal of the day, turn up the heat and wrap in a blanket. My plans to clear everything out from under the air conditioner and install a larger drip pan, and writing a review of an oracle deck just did not happen ... although my day is not yet over. They'll get added to my to-do list, but tomorrow I will plan the next leg of my journey: finish my last two stays here, then rather than the meandering route I was sketching out down to Corpus Cristi, I decided to drive there directly because it's at least 10 degrees warmer, and work my way back north as the temperature, hopefully, warms.
